No dissolution of cult in France

Post by star eht on Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:09 am

http://forums.whyweprotest.net/15-media/no-dissolution-cult-france-52913/

Miviludes, the anti-sect governmental organisation in France, confirmed today, 14 September, that a modification of the law which came into force on 12 May, no longer allows a magistrate to dissolve a cult for criminal behaviour, which removes the risk of the dissolution of scientology.

This was part of a simplification of the law.

Miviludes fears that this legislative modification 'imposed without debate' will negate the demands of the Paris prosecutor against the Church of Scientology in France.

On 15 June the public minister had asked the court in Parish for the dissolution of the two principal Scientology organisations in France on the grounds that they consituted an organised criminal body.

So someone goofed. I bet some fur is flying in Paris today. This loophole is absolutely crazy. Why should a cult be treated any different from any other criminal organisation? Has someone been busy behind the scenes? We need to know more about this voting in May.

On the positive side the Germans decided freely that banning Scientology was an option but not the best one. This way the French get to keep it under control, maybe. But what a waste of effort and years of work.

As long as they are still fully charged for their criminal acts, I dont mind if they are not banned. Means they cant hide behind their other groups in France and be harder to catch.

Still it was a bitch move to pull. Is it really legal to change a law right before a court case to make it invalid?
